There are lots of things you can do to help protect animals in our community! See below for a list of ways to help:
- Report It: If you witness animal cruelty, whether there's no food or water for a pet or if they have no doghouse to sleep in, never try to get involved by yourself. Instead, tell an adult. Together you two can call Lexington-Fayette Animall Care & Control (LFACC) at 859-255-9033 x 221. Most people don't know that what they are doing is considered animal cruelty. The Animal Control Officers at LFACC will try and help educate the owners on proper pet care.
Be an example: If you have pets at home, make sure to always show them the love and attention they deserve. They need fresh food and water every day, a nice comfortable place to sleep, and to see a veterinarian to make sure they are healthy.
- Write a letter: Write a letter to your local state representative and tell them that you think investigating animal cruelty should be a priority and that tougher laws should be passed that protect animals.
- School Visits: Have your teacher contact the Lexington Humane Society to have them come out to your school and talk about animals! CLICK HERE to learn more about how LHS can come to your school!
